You can make this simple beaded butterfly with 0.3mm or 0.4mm craft wire, size 6 seed beads and any small bead for the head.

1. Cut a piece of wire about 50cm long and place 2 beads about half way along the wire.

2. Add 2 more beads to one wire and pass the other end of the wire through the opposite way.

3. Pull the wires up firmly so the beads sit like this and are roughly in the middle of the wire.

4. Add two more beads in the same way.

5. Now for the first wing. Add 15 beads to one of the wires.

6. Push the wire through the previous two body beads.

7. Pull the wire through, your work should look like this.

8. Still using the same end of the wire add another 15 beads and push through the top two beads.

9. Pull the wire firmly, your work should look like this

10. Add 2 more rows of body beads as before.

11. Choose the longer wire, add 20 beads.

12. Push the wire through the row below.

13. Add nother 20 beads and push the wire back through the last row. Pull up firmly.

14. Pass the wires opposite ways through the head bead

15. Pull up firmly and trim the wires to about 15mm long.

16. Curl the wires up to form antennae.
